Precautions during the use of welding and cutting equipment

When welding and cutting operations are generally carried out in basements, tunnels, metal containers, and relatively enclosed areas, due to special factors such as poor air circulation, inconvenient entry and exit, insufficient lighting, limited space, and inconvenient activities, accidents are prone to occur during welding and cutting operations, and rescue measures are not easy. Therefore, the following safety measures must be strictly taken
(1) Before starting work, it is necessary to carefully investigate the situation inside and outside the workplace. It is necessary to check whether the outdoor buildings or other structures have any impact on indoor hot work welding and cutting, and whether there are flammable and explosive substances indoors. If necessary, the indoor gas should be sampled and analyzed to confirm safety before entering the indoor operation
(2) Acetylene generators, oxygen cylinders, and welding machines are not allowed to be placed indoors during hot work welding or cutting. Careful inspection of oxygen acetylene pipelines and welding and cutting torches is necessary to prevent gas leakage and prevent explosion accidents caused by the accumulation of oxygen acetylene gas indoors. When suspending welding and cutting, the oxygen acetylene pipelines and welding and cutting torches should be taken outdoors. And open all doors, windows or valves to maintain air circulation as much as possible, and if necessary, adopt mechanical ventilation
(3) When using welding and cutting equipment for welding operations, the welding and cutting area should be kept dry, and the insulation protection equipment should be strictly checked to ensure that it meets safety requirements. When working inside a metal container, welders are not allowed to touch the head, back, or uninsulated parts of the metal container. All lighting equipment shall use low-voltage lighting fixtures
(4) It is prohibited to allow oxygen to be introduced indoors for regulating the air in the operating area
